These calzones come together in a snap and are a great way to sneak a few veggies into your kids diet.
Make calzone at home. Gently fold dough in half dampen seams with water and pinch together then crimp edges all around. They use the same crust as pizza and you can fill them with whatever you like. Calzones are Italian turnovers that are stuffed with an array of ingredients.
Allow each family member or guest to build their own calzone by placing stuffers in the corner of one square of dough about 12 inch in. Pretty much anything that goes on a pizza can go into a calzone. The fillings are placed on one half of the circular.
Bake the calzones for about 15 to 20 minutes or until they are golden brown. With a sharp knife make two to three small cuts on the surface of each calzone. The best part is they are small so it makes it easy for little hands to pick up and eat.
Slits will allow the steam to escape from inside the calzone so that it doesnt break apart inside the oven. Top each with 1 tablespoon of mozzarella cheese. Calzones are not hard to make.
Directions Preheat oven to 500 and grease two large baking sheets with cooking spray. Let cool before serving.
